The mission of the Home Builders Care Foundation (HBCF) is to complete shelter-related construction projects by utilizing the building industry's specialized skills and by working collaboratively with existing community service and care providers, such as other non-profit agencies and governmental agencies serving the homeless and other at-risk families and individuals.
Our purpose is to organize and coordinate the community outreach efforts and charitable activities of the hundreds of builders, remodelers, and associate members affiliated with the building industry.
Our Mission and Purpose

Our Service Community
HBCF was established in 1984 as Operation Tom Sawyer as the charitable arm of the Suburban Maryland Building Industry Association. Our founder believed that homebuilders have a responsibility to serve the needs of growing communities and families and make every home a part of that community.
Since our inception, HBCF has made significant in-kind contributions of more than $10,000,000 worth of materials and labor to projects assisting the homeless and others at risk in the communities we serve. The total value of our projects is estimated to be more than double that amount.
