Spring Dell Center

The Spring Dell Center in Southern Maryland has been dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving their highest level of independence by providing support and opportunities for the quality of life they desire within their community since 1966. The organization serves over 160 individuals through its numerous programs in both Charles and St. Mary's Counties.

Over the past few years, the Home Builders Care Foundation has assisted Spring Dell with the maintenance of several of its residential group homes, which require a lot of maintenance and safety precautions. Projects have included exterior painting and caulking, new aluminum siding, the replacement of gutters and downspouts and roof repairs. HBCF's recurrent assistance has allowed Spring Dell to preserve its limited resources for its ongoing social services.

Our most recent project in 2004, was led by Gary Kret and Larry Wolcott of Steuart-Kret Homes. Under their leadership, a Waldorf group residence, home to four disabled adults in the Spring Dell program, received a new handicapped accessible ramp as well as fencing to improve the safety of its residents.

In early 2002, the Home Builders Care Foundation provided the funds necessary to replace the roof on a residential group home in LaPlata, Maryland. The home, owned by the Spring Dell Center, provides shelter for developmentally disabled adults, as well as those with profound physical handicaps. The agency's housing program allows its residents with special needs to live with dignity on a community setting.

Spring Dell Center operates several group homes for developmentally disabled individuals in Southern Maryland. In addition to residential services, the Center also provides supported employment, group employment, transportation, center based employment, family and individual support services in Charles as well as St. Mary's Counties. The Center currently serves over 160 individuals through its numerous programs.
