Builders organization donates toys
You can talk about real estate bubbles all you want, but some Washington-area builders had something more solid to worry about this past holiday season - toys.
The Home Builders Care Foundation, the charitable service organization affiliated with the Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association (MNCBIA), hosted its third annual Holiday Toy Drive at the Congressional Country Club December 15.
More than 150 members of the home builders association attneding the President's Luncheon donated close to $6,000 worht of new toys and gifts to homeless and needy children in residential care programs at the nonproift National Center for Children and Families.
Four completely loaded sport-utility vehicles earned their "utility" designation, by showing off their usefulness in hauling the presents.
Elise Goede, the center's volunteer coordinator, was on hand to receive the numerous contributions.
Rich Thometz, an MNCBIA past-president and current HBCF director, had this to say about the $1,000 worth of toys donated by his company, Hailey Development: "We have a fun time with the Holiday Toy Drive. We set aside one day where our whole staff gets involved in fulfilling the shelter's wish list."
