Recognizing the contributions of building industry members in helping persons in need
The Community Service Awards are presented annually by Home Builders Care Foundation (HBCF). The award is given to an individual, company, or organization for outstanding contributions to the community through unselfish efforts and dedication in support of shelter-related projects.
Candidates are considered based on project participation with HBCF and within the community. Most awards are restricted to members of the Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association (MNCBIA). Nominations for the award are reviewed and voted upon by the HBCF Board of Directors. Awards are presented at MNCBIA’s Annual Installation Dinner Meeting in January.
The awards are presented in the following categories:
- Directors Award - in recognition of leadership in advocating for HBCF in the building community
- Tom Sawyer Award - in recognition of a subcontractor/supplier/associate's in-kind donations to HBCF projects.
- Community Builder Award - in recognition of a builder member who helped raise awareness of the industry's spirit of giving.
