Home Builders Care builds for Wounded Veterans at Patriot Point - a special retreat center on Maryland's Eastern Shore exclusively for wounded, ill and injured service members, their families and caregivers, as well as Gold Star families.
Patriot Point provides a relaxing and safe environment to enjoy outdoor recreational activities. With its 2.3 miles of shoreline, it is an oasis for recovering service members and their families and a place to reconnect, relax and recuperate. Retreats are led by Patriot Point's nonprofit partners. About the Property and the Project Situated on 290 acres of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, fronting two pristine waterways and just a short distance from the Chesapeake Bay, Patriot Point was purchased by the Military Bowl Foundation in April 2016. In its first two years of operation, Patriot Point has welcomed nearly 600 guests. Buildings on the property include a main house, a guest house, a welcome center and a caretakers barn. The main house was built in 1925 and has undergone multiple additions. Improvements were needed to address safety, accessibility, weatherization and capacity issues. Starting in 2019, and being completed in Phases, Home Builders Care took on the extensive exterior renovation of the main house. MBIA member MDC Services signed on to manage the construction.
To help make the property a first class place for our Vets, additional improvement plans include: shoreline restoration, a new pole barn, a pond rebuild, a reconfiguring of space to add new bedrooms, and kitchen improvements. Other MBIA members have expressed additional interest in stepping up to help where they can. The Mission of Patriot Point's Vision
At Patriot Point, our nation’s warriors are able to reconnect with their families and their caregivers, decompress after a deployment, or just take some time to rejuvenate. Patriot Point has one thing in mind: Creating a destination for those who have valiantly served our nation so that they can recharge, refresh and rejuvenate away from the stresses and challenges of their everyday lives. The courageous men and women who come to Patriot Point have earned our gratitude with their selfless work. This Patriot Point project is one way for us to give back to them. The plans - laid out by MBIA member Mangan Group Architects.
